At first glance creating lace can seem quite difficult, it took me a while to figure it out. Once you know the steps you'll find out how easy it is and will be able to create a variety of different styles. First we'll start with some basic flower and leaves vectors.

Next we'll adjust the size, duplicate the flower and leaves and create a pattern on the canvas. Merge these layers together.

Once you're happy with the place its time to create the mesh. Hide your flower and leaves layer and add a new layer under that. Click on Filters>Render>Pattern>Grid, in the pop up adjust the horizontal and vertical width to 2 pixels and click OK. You should now have a grid on your screen, from here rotate the grid 90 degrees. You'll have the rotated grid along with some gaps in the corners of your canvas, to fix this just duplicate the layer, move and align the layers to cover the canvas.

Unhide your flower layer and merge the layers together. I have used a white background and merged the layers together.

Next using the scale tool, scale the layer to about a quarter of the canvas. Duplicate the layer and move it beside the original one, continue doing this to fill the canvas.

Now its time to invert the color, click Colors>Invert and you should now end up with white lines and white flowers and leaves with a black background. Click Colors>Brightness-Contrast and lighten the image until the black is medium grey.

You can adjust the brightness depending on the level of transparency you prefer. The lace is complete and ready for cutting and applying to your opacity map slot in the client.

This is just a basic lace map, you can be as creative as you like. To add color to the lace and create the texture all you need to do is add a solid color to the texture slot in the client. It's best to stay away from pure black and pure white when texturing as details do not show up as well, instead opt for a few shades lighter than black and a few shades darker than white. Now you're ready to go! Good Luck!
P.S. I have included pictures in good faith to help you on your creating journey. Please do not steal my textures, creating your own is much more satisfying. Stealing my texture will result in a DMCA complaint lodged against you and I would hate for it to come to that.
