Wood Texture

Creating a wood texture is super easy and quick to do

I started on a canvas of 512x512. Filling the background with the color I want to use for the wood.

Next click Filters>Noise>HSV Noise and adjust the settings, you may need to play around with them a little to get what appeals to you. However you can use the settings I used in the image below then click OK. You can stop at this stage if you wish to create a cork texture.

After that click Filters>Distorts>Wind change the Edge Affected to Trailing and the Threshold and Strength to 10

Next click Filters>Blur>Motion Blur. Set the angle to 0 and the length to 37.

Create a new layer and click Filters>Render>Solid Noise and change the settings to the image below.

Change the Layer Mode to Overlay.

Create a new layer, select the brush tool, change the size to 2 and the color to black. Draw random horizontal lines and a few scribbles.

Next click Filters>Distorts>Shift. Select Shift Horizontally and the shift amount to around 106px and click OK.

Next change the Layer Mode to Overlay and adjust the opacity to whatever suits you.

To turn this image into wood paneling you can add some horizontal black lines. I used a brush size of 2. You can either use the guide lines to create the straight lines or click outside the layer and press Shift and Ctrl and drag your line across the canvas. Duplicate the layer and invert the color by clicking Colors>Invert. Move the white lines just above the black and apply a Gaussian Blur of 4 or 5 and then set the Layer Mode to Overlay. You have just created wooden panels!

P.S. I have included pictures in good faith to help you on your creating journey. Please do not steal my textures, creating your own is much more satisfying. Stealing my texture will result in a DMCA complaint lodged against you and I would hate for it to come to that.
